A refresher course for people wanting to get creatively inspired and the most out of their digital SLRS.
The beach and boardwalk offer varied photographic opportunities, and a chance to stretch your creative legs. Alex and Gethin will show you how you can approach the subject in different ways using different styles. There is huge scope for classic landscape shots plus studies of light and texture.
Driftwood, dunes, a chance of discovering one of Urunga's famous beach shacks, plus stunning views over the estuary to the mountains beyond. There is a lifetime of photography in this one location. We'll cram it into 5 hours!
A walk in the woods (Dorrigo Rainforest)

This course is suited to both beginner and intermediate photographers wanting to explore more of their DSLR cameras features and capabilities.
Using the superb Dorrigo Rainforest centre as a base you are invited to join award winning photographers Gethin Coles and Alex Cowley on a walk through some of the Mid North Coasts most spectacular rainforest. Strangler Figs, towering Tallowwood's and the majestic buttress rooted Yellow Carabeen trees are just some of the subjects we will encounter. There is also the chance of spotting stunning Lyrebirds and Bowerbirds and King Parrots to name but a few. We will also visit Crystal Showers Falls, a waterfall that you can actually walk behind!

A special one-off course by this experienced photographer and painter.
Learn how to give your images that special impact! Explore the art of photography, looking at subject matter and photographic techniques including ways of setting up your camera and making the most of light. You also study the craft, mastering your camera controls, menu and functions and spending time in the digital darkroom. Skills are developed on projects in a variety of locations.
About your tutor
Howard Coles has had a lifetime in the classroom, college studio and workshop teaching students of all ages. He runs several weekend and 5 day courses each year at the prestigious West Dean College and at Plas Tan Y Bwlch in the UK.
Panoramic Landscapes using a digital camera

Very limited places - 3 students per tutor.
Learn the techniques of producing eye-popping crystal-sharp high-resolution panoramas. This short course covers the on-location technical requirements for producing that technically perfect shot. Plus the creative aspect of seeing that shot: composition and using available light to its best effect to create atmosphere. The course also covers the creation of the panoramas, and basic photo editing techniques to get the most out of your finished shot.
Students must have a digital SLR or advanced digital compact camera with manual exposure control. We only have a limited number of workstations for students - it is highly recommended that students bring their own laptops or PC's (or Macs of course).

Intermediate/Advanced
This short course focuses on creative control of exposure to produce a desired effect. It covers the technical aspects of how to correctly expose a scene on a digital camera, and how and when to change exposure length. This winter course includes some night photography using touches and other paraphernalia. Subject matter will include rivers and the ocean.
