Emerald Beach, Look at me now!

10am-6pm · 10 places available

June 11th (Saturday)

$200/student

Sunset: 4.54pm
High tide: 3pm

Join your tutors Alex and Gethin and explore the photographic opportunities at Emerald beach and Look At Me Now headland. If you're into coastal scenes this location has it all. As well as being an interesting subject in themselves the rock platforms provide a great vantage point from which to shoot the beach. As the sun goes down this is a good location to shoot long exposure images of the water rushing around the rocks.

A short hop skip and a jump away, Look At Me Now headland offers sweeping vistas and great opportunities to capture images of the rugged coastline. As well as stunning landscapes the headland is home to a large number of Kangaroos. Not at all camera shy these fascinating creatures are the ideal subjects for some distinctive up close wildlife images so if you have a telephoto lens it's well worth bringing it along.

Sunset Moonrise Starry Sawtell

4-10pm · 10 places available

July 16th (Saturday)

$200/student

Sunset: 5:05pm
Moonrise: 6:07pm

Just as in course #1, Sawtell beach, headland, pool and estuary offer varied photographic opportunities, with the added spice of a full moon rise at dusk. If its cloudy, great! You'll get the chance to do some long exposures with moonlit clouds. Bring an LED torch to experiment with "lightpainting". We'll guide you through the sometimes tricky territory of photographing the moon - its not as easy as you'd think to get a decent shot. Tripods, SLRS or cameras with long exposure modes are essential (at least 30 seconds). A shutter release that allows B ('Bulb') exposure is a great bonus.
